We are seeking a Health Champion to join our two West Yorkshire Services to provide high quality service to our service users with a sensory impairment and/or other disabilities. The role is Leeds based but the successful candidate will need to cover both Leeds and Kirklees area. Main accountabilities for the role are:

  • Befriending
  • Sensory Impaired awareness training and promotion
  • Self-help/management training/information sharing
  • Peer support groups
  • Link workers/social prescribing

To be successful for the role you will have experience in:

  • Working with sensory impaired people
  • setting up new projects
  • co designing peer support groups
  • working with sensory impaired people to self-manage their own health conditions
  • working with volunteers, including line management

In addition to the above, you will have excellent communication skills including BSL level 3 qualification (or native BSL user), organisational skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team and able to deal with conflicting demands on time and respond to deadlines.
